Creating music out of the moment has been always the central desire of Jonas‘ creative and musical unfolding through various projects, phases and instrumental setups. The fascinating power of being fully present and connected with the place, the vibe and the people, creating every sound, every beat and every melody from the scratch, in resonance with the surroundings, is what makes EKAWA’s performances to what they are: Always new, always unpredictable, and for sure absolutely in the here and now.

Jonas musical background is manifold. Brought up in an artistic and musical parents house he was educated in classical piano, drums, guitar and church organ as a child, meanwhile he started doing his first electronic compositions and recordings as a teenager. In high school he soon became part of the local jazz scene and played in various jazz, hiphop, rock and metal bands. Several journeys to India created a deep rooted connection with the depth of classical Indian music, improvisation and musical spirituality.

In Berlin Jonas studied composition and piano at the music conservatory Hanns Eisler. Learning to code gave him ability to create his first live softwares and algorithms. He realized several projects in the field of contemporary art, film, sound and performance before he began to focus on solo performances as an ambient and techno live act. In 2019, after another journey to India, he found his stage name EKAWA and started to perform improvised live sets and concerts in clubs, public spaces and on festivals.
